My name is Jorge Hernandez and this is my life

My name is Jorge Hernandez and I was born in The Bronx in 1972. Growing up in little parts of the Bronx, Long Island, and Queens, I was always into fashion and clothes. I was into any magazine that showed models and designers. When I was about 14-years-old, my mom tried to get me into the modeling scene. I went to some interviews, but they ended up being scams. So eventually I gave up on putting modeling aside and concentrating on high school, spending my first two years in New York and then my last two years in Rhode Island, where I graduated from high school in 1991.

After high school, I wanted to follow my dreams of modeling and graduated from John Casablanca Modeling School. So that’s when I went to California – no, not Hollywood, Camp Pendleton. Life sometimes takes people in unexpected directions. I wanted to see the world and the only way I knew how to do that was to join the military. I enlisted in the Marines. Go figure; me in the military. I wanted to prove that I had the ability to do anything I set my mind to. And I did. I made it through Boot Camp and studied to be a cook. I did some soul searching to figure out what it was that I wanted to do in life, and I kept thinking about fashion. I found jobs in any store that would show me things I needed to know about fashion, hoping that maybe it would give me some type of luck to get myself into the modeling industry. I found opportunities to act and entertain; and I had a lot of talent. But life changes like the seasons and it takes you in different and unexpected directions.

Now, it’s 2007 and I have been living in Rhode Island for 10 years. I’m working at a bank, but it’s not my dream or my passion. I’m 34 and at a point in my life where I don’t want to make any more mistakes. If I don’t reach for my dreams now, I probably never will. I need to follow my calling. I have the one thing that I want in life, so I am at it again; doing everything possible to finally go for what I am here in this world to do.

I want to show the world who I am. I am Jorge Hernandez, model/actor – looking for my big shot. I know this is the time for me to finally shine. I know I can do this; I know I have it in me. The paths of my life that have taken me here have all made me stronger. And now I am eager and enthusiastic to follow my dreams, my goals, and my passion to begin my new career in modeling and acting. I know this is the time and place for me; and now that it’s in my reach, I will not give up.
